Anti Tamper Labels not evident in Pharmaceutical packaging
Hague Australia has always understood the need for companies to have Anti-Tamper labels and packaging in order they safeguard their product and reputation, and one pharmaceutical company recently came to know why. This is the story of how things could have ended very badly for Roche Pharmaceuticals.
Roche, the manufacturer of Valium in Australia, had to recall five million Valium tablets recently after it was found that product packaging had been tampered with. The company was worried that the product might have been substituted within the packaging?
“If a patient has an affected pack, there is a risk that they will not have an adequate supply of their medicine and could take the incorrect medication, which could have serious health consequences,” the Therapeutic Goods Administration said in a statement.
Valium is the brand name diazepam which is used to treat patients with anxiety and muscle disorder and n Australia,30,000 packs are issued each month.
It has been suspected that a single employee within the supply chain has been swapping Valium for other tablets to disguise their crime.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident, and many other manufacturers have also suffered similar issues.
